Copper Golems can no longer reach (reasonably reachable) chests after hitbox reduction.

Since the Copper Golem hitbox reduction in 25w34b (to better fit through doorways), they fail to pathfind and/or reach chests that are in their immediate vicinity.

I believe the scaling-down of their hitbox unintentionally scaled down their reach too, making their AI less functional.

This breaks existing Copper Golem item sorting designs that should logically still function, and is solely the unintended byproduct of reducing the size of their hitbox for the purpose of passing through doorways.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Load a creative world in snapshot 25w34b

  • Surround a copper golem with wooden chests and 1 copper chest, with a slab above the golem to prevent escape

Reference the video below to see previous and actual results!

Previous (expected) results in snapshot 25w33a (before hitbox reduction)

  • Copper golems are capable of reaching every reasonably reachable chest surrounding them.

Actual Results in snapshot 25w34b (after hitbox reduction)

  • The copper golem stands in place for eternity instead of opening nearby chests

  • Item sorting design using copper golem completely broken due to unintentional reach reduction

I understand the copper golem hitbox reduction is intentional and valid. I believe their reach should be unaffected by this change, allowing them to maintain a reasonable reach distance when attempting to access chests (their whole purpose).
