when you craft you can’t use materials from your off hand
you can. just press whatever key you have for “Swap Item With Off Hand” while hovering over the slot you want to put it into.
even if you couldn’t do that, this isn’t a bug, as it’s not a flaw with the code, that would be a flaw with the menu design.
