I am unable to turn on hitboxes using f3 b

I have noticed that the f3+b to show entity hitboxes but it didn’t work. I’ve tried it on 3 worlds, 1 on 1.19.2 fabric on a multiplayer Aternos server, I’ve also tried on 1.20 multiplayer paper Aternos server and on a 1.20 vanilla single player world and it hasn’t worked on any. I believe I have also tried in on a multiplayer server while on 1.21.8. I have an Acer laptop and I use java Minecraft. I have tried fn, f3+b as well but nothing has worked. It used to work fine on this laptop and on my old one which was a dell.

Hi!
Thank you for your report!

  • Can you confirm if this issue occurs on latest vanilla version of the game on the singleplayer with commands enabled?

If you are on a laptop, please try pressing Fn + F3 + B

I have tried it with Fn + F3 + B and it still doesn’t work. I have also now tried it on 1.21.8 in singleplayer with commands enabled as requested and it doesn’t work. I also tried it on the latest snapshot 1.21.9 Pre-Release 4, also in singleplayer with commands enabled and it doesn’t work on that either.

Check your options > chat settings > reduced debug info and make sure it’s off

Ok, here is a video, let me know if thats helpful

Can you verify that the inputs are actually being received by your system? Try testing with the Windows On-Screen Keyboard.

Unfortunately no, the keyboard doesn’t recognize the letters with the game open, I think it confuses the app.

My bad, the On-Screen Keyboard doesn’t actually show the keys being pressed down so it can’t be used for debugging inputs. The only thing I can recommend is to make a new user for your computer, install Minecraft for that user and try F3+B there. If it works, which it most likely will, reinstall your various programs and utilities one by one until you find the one which is causing the problem- once you have found the culprit, this report can be safely closed as Invalid.
