Mobs do not gain extra attack reach from jabbing with the spear

The spear does not grant extra reach to mobs when they use the jab attack. To reproduce, spawn two skeletons in a completely cramped area where they can’t move. Then run the following commands:

/item replace entity @e[type=minecraft:skeleton] weapon.mainhand with minecraft:stone_spear

/item replace entity @n[type=minecraft:skeleton] weapon.mainhand with minecraft:stone_sword

Check that one skeleton is holding a spear, the other is holding a sword, and that they’re perfectly overlapping one another. Then, go into survival mode and carefully walk into the skeleton’s attack range. Notice that they will always start attacking at the same range, rather than the one with the spear attacking at a further horizontal distance. This can also be reproduced with naturally spawning mobs wielding the spear such as piglins, though it’s more inconvenient.
