Description:
A significant bug occurs when a spear is enchanted with an excessively high-level Lunge enchantment (e.g., Lunge 100). When using such a spear to attack, no durability is consumed, effectively granting it infinite durability.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a new Superflat world.
Acquire a spear enchanted with a high-level Lunge enchantment (e.g., level 100).
Aim at a mob and press the "Attack/Destroy" key (left-click by default). Your character will lunge forward a considerable distance.
Observe the spear's durability after this lunge. No durability will be consumed.
Press the "Attack/Destroy" key (left-click by default) again to attack a mob. The spear will still not consume any durability.
Additional Observations:
This process can be repeated indefinitely, making the spear unbreakable under these specific conditions.
The spear with Lunge 100 enchantment persists after quitting and reloading the world; it is not a client-side visual glitch.
It is important to note that this issue does not occur with the standard, obtainable Lunge III enchantment. The bug appears to be specific to custom, high-level Lunge enchantments.
Use the command
/give @s netherite_spear[enchantments={lunge:100}]
to obtain a spear enchanted with Lunge 100 for testing.
Environment
Java21,Windows 10 Professional 22H2,Minecraft 25w42a
