I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior, but the spear’s attack indicator seems inconsistent with its real reach.
The attack indicator works the same way as with regular melee weapons, even though the spear can hit from a longer distance. Because of this, the indicator shows that you can attack later than you actually should — it doesn’t reflect the spear’s extended range.
Also, when a target is too close (inside the spear’s “dead zone”), the indicator still shows that you can attack, even though the hit won’t register.
