Fueling a furnace minecart while looking perpendicular to its track grants it only a brief impulse

What the title says.

To reproduce

1. Build an east-west track of normal rails on a flat surface. Make the track either circular or very long so that the minecart can travel for a long period under its own power

2. While standing 2 blocks south of the track, run /execute align xyz run teleport @s ~0.5 ~ ~0.5 1 40

3. Without changing the direction you are looking, place a furnace minecart on the track

4. Still without changing the direction you are looking, power it with coal or charcoal
   ❌ The minecart begins moving west but quickly loses speed

Expected behavior

The minecart would move west (or east; either way, it would do it consistently) and would retain its speed until its fuel is exhausted
