The “Who Needs Rockets?” advancement is granted after launching yourself up >=7.15 blocks instead of >=8 blocks. This is caused by the “fix” for MC-269649. The player’s initial jump height should not even be considered for the purposes of this advancement, and it definitely should not be assumed to be 0.85. In other words, the behavior prior to the “fix” was (almost) correct.
To reproduce
Go to a flat area with nothing too nearby
/fill ~ ~ ~1 ~ ~9 ~1 smooth_stone(just for visual reference)/setblock ~ ~9 ~ smooth_stone_slab[type=top]Grab a wind charge
/advancement revoke @s only minecraft:adventure/who_needs_rocketsLook straight down and perform a good wind charge jump that makes you bonk your head on the slab
❌ You are granted “Who Needs Rockets?”, even though there was only enough space for you to travel upwards 7.5 blocks
Expected behavior
Either the description would say 7.15 blocks (similar to how it was prior to the “fix”) or you would actually need to travel upwards 8 blocks from the point of the blast.
Note
Per MC-270656, this can also be reproduced with teleportation– see the description of MC-304922 for easy repro steps.
