Debug screen shows E: 0/x despite visible entities

Version: Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 (vanilla)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a singleplayer world in Creative mode

  2. Place multiple entities (e.g., pigs, minecart, armor stand) in front of the player

  3. Open debug screen (F3)

  4. Observe E: 0/x despite entities being visible and within simulation distance

Expected result:
E: 4/x or higher

Actual result:
E: 0/x

Notes:

  • Simulation distance = 12

  • SC = 289

  • No mods or plugins

  • Vanilla client

Additional test:

I tested the same setup in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.1 (vanilla). In this version, the debug screen correctly shows the number of loaded entities (e.g., E: 16/18) when entities like pigs and minecarts are nearby.

In contrast, version 1.21.11 always shows E: 0/x even when entities are visible and close to the player.

This suggests that the issue may be a regression or unintended behavior introduced in newer versions.
