I have been able to put the riptide enchantment on both a sword and a spear. I thought it was some oversight with the new copper materials, but it also happened on an iron sword. What’s supposed to happen is that you can put both a sword and a riptide book in the anvil, but you can't combine them. When I did this they let me combine them to make a sword and a spear with riptide. Don't mind Espeon.
