Silverfish may destroy nearby regular stone blocks when fighting a player, without summoning silverfish from them.
To reproduce the bug, place a bunch of stone blocks and silverfish on the ground, then attack the silverfish.
This also occurs in 1.21.11

Hi!
Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working As Intended.
Silverfish have the ability to transform regular stone into infested stone. In the provided video, if you watch closely, you can observe moments when silverfish burrow into stone, turning it into infested stone. When these blocks/silverfishes are later struck, more silverfish emerge from the broken infested stone.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, Redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

The Minecraft wiki states: "When idle, silverfish enter a nearby deepslate, stone, cobblestone, stone bricks, mossy stone bricks, cracked stone bricks, or chiseled stone bricks block" Obviously, silverfish should not attempt to burrow into nearby stone blocks when fighting a player. Is this how you handle bug reports?Do you take users for fools? I paid for this game; fixing bugs is your responsibility!
