Sound events "entity.player.hurt" and "entity.player.death" use same audio files

Description:

Players' death sounds are exactly same as players' normal hurt sounds, because both of them use audio files located in the same route:

minecraft/sounds/damage

Steps to Reproduce: (Windows System, test in 26.1)

  1. Turn on your closed captions. Create a new world and then run the commands below in order, try to figure out if there is any difference between players' death sounds and players' normal hurt sounds:

    • /playsound entity.player.death

    • /playsound entity.player.hurt

  2. Load a resource pack which can change players' death and hurt sounds, then figure out if there is any difference between them.

Actual Result:

There is not a single difference between a player’s death sound and hurt sound before/after you load a resource pack that changes them.

Expected Result:

Players' death sounds and hurt sounds are not the same.
