Short description of the issue:
In snapshot 23w46a, the copper bulb's intentional 1-game-tick (1 gt) delay was removed, changing it to a 0 gt instant trigger. This "nerf" was implemented to achieve "internal consistency" with other blocks following a flawed bug report (MC-265910). The 1 gt delay was a confirmed intentional feature by lead designer kingbdogz and served as the first compact, non-directional method for achieving 20Hz redstone logic and "odd-tick" signal offsetting.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
Enter a world in snapshot 23w46a or any subsequent version.
Place a copper bulb and a comparator adjacent to it to read its state.
Apply a redstone pulse to the copper bulb.
Measure the delay between the input pulse and the state change/comparator output.
Expected result:
The copper bulb should possess a 1 gt delay before toggling its state. This original behavior allowed the block to act as a specialized high-precision delayer, enabling the creation of compact 20Hz circuits and precise signal staggered timings that are otherwise bulky or impossible to achieve.
Actual result:
The copper bulb reacts with a 0 gt delay, toggling its state instantly. This makes the block redundant with existing components like note blocks or trapdoors and removes the unique technical utility that the developers initially intended and the redstone community unanimously agreed was useful.

It’s really disheartening to see this issue be ignored so systemically when it’s such a simple change that would be easy to revert. Everyone in the redstone community was excited about the original behavior, the developers explicitly intended this behavior, and it is desired enough to have a mod dedicated to reverting the snapshot. There is no reason the copper bulbs had to be broken and it’s frustrating this it’s still broken.
Thank you for your report!
