I summoned new villagers after they were wiped out by zombies, and the new villagers cannot pick up food items. even the farmers cannot pick up food or seeds when they harvest wheat, it just hovers around untill it despawns or i pick it up and replant myself. I was having this issue in 26.1.2 as well, but by the time i realised it was a bug not just that their inventory may be full it was time to update. unfortunatley the update has not cured the problem.
