Toggling off fullscreen, Alt tabbing, and closing out the game briefly shows the previous frame/window with Exclusive Fullscreen enabled

To clarify: This is a bug that has existed since 26.1 Pre Release 2 and has gotten worse with the implementation of the Vulkan rendering backend in 26.2.

|

Toggling off fullscreen, Alt tabbing, and closing out the game briefly shows the previous frame/window with Exclusive Fullscreen enabled. This happens with both OpenGL and Vulkan rendering backends, although with OpenGL, it is harder to spot it unless you slow down your computer by increasing the render distance.

|

Steps to reproduce:

|

  1. Create a new world

  2. Toggle off fullscreen using F11

  3. Place different colored wool (Red and Blue) on the left and on the right

  4. Toggle on fullscreen using F11 while looking at the red wool

  5. Toggle off fullscreen using F11 while looking at the blue wool. You should see the red wool show up for a split second.

|

Alternatively, you can also look one way in your world, then toggle on fullscreen, and then look the other way and toggle off fullscreen which should be easier to reproduce with OpenGL, especially with high render distance.

|

For alt tabbing, the steps are the same but for step 5, you have to tab in and out of the game using Alt + Tab

|

For closing out the game, the steps are the same but for step 5, you close the game through the main menu

Additional notes: The videos below were from Vulkan, but can be replicated with OpenGL.

First video was with exclusive fullscreen enabled. This video is with exclusive fullscreen disabled (what exclusive fullscreen enabled should look like)

Update: This can also be reproduced by alt tabbing

Also when closing out the game

Thank you for your report!
After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
