Visual glitch with water textures and F2 screenshots rendering completely black on latest version

After a fresh installation of Minecraft on a newly formatted PC, I am experiencing a visual bug with water textures. This issue only occurs on the latest version of the game; older versions work perfectly. Additionally, any screenshot taken using the in-game F2 key outputs a completely black image.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch the latest version of Minecraft on a clean installation.

  2. Observe the water: it appears completely transparent and is only barely visible when in motion (see minecraft_f3.png).

  3. Change the video graphics settings (e.g., switching Graphics to "Fast").

  4. Observe the water again: the texture changes and glitches further, showing moving blue pixels (see fast.png).

  5. Press F2 to take a screenshot and check the saved file: the image is completely black. (see 2026-07-12_23.23.15.png)

Observed Results: Water textures are glitched/transparent, changes in video settings worsen the visual artifact, and in-game screenshots (F2) result in completely black images.

Expected Results: Water textures should render normally according to the selected graphic settings, and F2 screenshots should capture the game correctly.

Environment

Visual glitch on latest Minecraft version with Intel i7-3770, 8GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro. Water textures are transparent or pixelated depending on video settings. Also, taking screenshots with F2 results in completely black images. Drivers are updated.

Thanks for reporting the old tickets. However, those aren't a fix for the problem, but rather a community fix. What I wanted was an official resolution from Mojang.

That’s what those tickets also want: a fix from Mojang. They are considered bugs in the game, and Mojang will have to fix them in the code. Your ticket is just reporting the same issues again, and having multiple open tickets for the same issues would clutter the bug tracker. This is what the β€œDuplicate” resolution is for.
