Stone stairs are named incorrectly. They should be called cobblestone stairs.

"Stone" stairs are actually made out of cobblestone, and have the cobblestone texture. This presents a usability issue, because they don't show up when searching for "cobble".

This isn't really a bug or even a suggestion.

Does the author of this bug mean that stone stairs should be named cobblestone stairs, in line with other derivatives of cobblestone?

It is for some reason called "Stone stairs" in-game. It should be Cobblestone stairs.

Why are these marked resolved when they aren't resolved?

This is not fixed in 14w31a, they're still called stone stairs.

This has been fixed in the default (English (US)) language. The others (Australian, Canadian, UK, Pirate) will have to be updated at the Minecraft project on Crowdin. Probably all the other languages too, same place.

@Tobari and everybody else... I suggested the fixed translation for the English languages you mentioned. I mentioned it also for my native language (Dutch) and the language I studied at school (French)

I think if everybody checks their native language, we can get this issue fixed fast :3

still happening with argentina spanish (Still called "Escaleras de piedra")
