The new Debug Overlay GUI Scale option introduced in 26.3 Snapshot 4 allows selecting and saving a value greater than the normal GUI Scale. However, when the selected Debug Overlay GUI Scale is greater than the normal GUI Scale, the Debug Overlay is rendered using the normal GUI Scale instead.
The configured Debug Overlay GUI Scale value is saved correctly and remains selected after reopening the Debug Options menu, but it is not visually applied.
Reproduction Steps
Launch Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 Snapshot 5.
Go to Options → Video Settings and set GUI Scale to 1.
Open Debug Options using F3 + F6.
Set Debug Overlay → GUI Scale to 2 (or any value greater than the normal GUI Scale).
Press F3 to display the debug overlay.
Observed Results
The Debug Overlay is rendered as if it were using the normal GUI Scale instead of the configured Debug Overlay GUI Scale.
For example:
GUI Scale = 1
Debug Overlay GUI Scale = 2
The Debug Overlay is still rendered at scale 1.
The configured value is saved correctly and remains selected after reopening the Debug Options menu.
Expected Results
The Debug Overlay should be rendered using the configured Debug Overlay GUI Scale.
Additional Information
The issue only seems to occur when the configured Debug Overlay GUI Scale is greater than the normal GUI Scale.
Examples:
GUI Scale = 2 + Debug Overlay GUI Scale = 4 → Overlay is rendered at scale 2.
GUI Scale = 2 + Debug Overlay GUI Scale = 1 → Overlay is rendered at scale 1.
GUI Scale = 2 + Debug Overlay GUI Scale = 2 → Overlay is rendered at scale 2.
A short demonstration video showing the issue is attached.
