If an ender pearl hits the ground beyond 30 million blocks from the world center, the player will be moved to that position, and then immediately have their position rounded down to exactly 30 million blocks. This does not check if that position would be inside of a block, resulting in the player ending up trapped inside of terrain.
This could probably be fixed by doing away with the 30 million limit entirely, as the entire concept is dated. Alternatively, and much more boringly, make 30 million the limit for all entity positions instead, so ender pearls themselves cannot cross this boundary.
