Locked maps do not have a unique texture like in Bedrock Edition

In Minecraft Bedrock Beta & Preview 26.50.24, the inventory textures for maps were updated. As part of this beta, the Locked Map now has a distinct texture that differs from the regular Map, making the two items visually distinguishable in the inventory.

This behavior is inconsistent with Minecraft Java Edition, where both the Map and Locked Map use the same inventory texture.

Expected result:

Java also has a unique Locked Map texture like Bedrock.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Craft 2 empty maps (or take them from Creative mode)

  • Use both maps and then go to a Cartography table and lock one of them with a glass pane.

  • Notice in the inventory how both maps look exactly the same, and there is no visual difference to indicate that one is locked.

Now replicate the first two steps in Bedrock Edition latest preview and see how the locked map visually differs from the other map.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

If this is WAI, does that mean the existence of a unique texture in BE is wrong? It seems bizarre to introduce a parity issue in the current development cycle and then immediately declare that disparity as an intentional feature.
