The bug
MC-309670 was fixed by increasing the hitbox of dragon heads by half a pixel. However, it was only fixed for dragon heads on the ground. Dragon heads placed against a wall are still affected.
I don’t observe flickering z-fighting, but the top of the cushion and top of the dragon head do share the same plane, and so one renders arbitrarily depending on the player’s position:
How to reproduce
Place a dragon head on a wall
Place a cushion on it
Move or jump around
Expected result
The cushion should always be visible
Observed result
Sometimes the top of the dragon head is visible instead
