Inconsistent rendering of smaller entities at a distance

The distance at which an entity stops rendering because it is too far away does not seem to be strictly based on its hitbox size, as the attached video demonstrates.

The most notable downside to the present behavior is that is that wither skulls cease rendering when the player is still fairly close by, despite being dangerous projectiles whose explosions can cause terrain damage visible at any distance. Small fireballs and wind charges, being less dangerous and visually smaller, constitute the second-most-notable downside, while throwable projectiles such as snowballs, being smaller and less dangerous still, are third place. Dropped items continue to render for a good distance despite having a very small hitbox, which is useful for players looking to retrieve their dropped gear, among other situations.

To reproduce

  1. Set Render Distance to 32

  2. Set Entity Distance to 500%

  3. /summon wither_skull

  4. Drop an item on the ground near it

  5. Grab a spyglass

  6. Fly away and look back at the entities using the spyglass
❌ The wither skull ceases rendering when you have flown far enough away, despite still being fairly close by and being much larger than the dropped item (and having a slightly larger hitbox)

Expected behavior

Entity Distance, being a performance setting, would when set to max allow the player to see all dangerous projectiles from a long distance away

Note

In the attached video Render Distance is 32, Simulation Distance is 20 and Entity Distance is 500%.
