The bug
The game seems to experience severe lag spikes after exploring terrain for a while. By looking at the graphs, it seems to happen server side as well. Reducing render distance seems to help a bit.
I’m unable to reproduce this on 26.3, so I believe this is a new issue introduced in 26.4 snapshots. Also judging by how at the beginning of a fresh game start the spikes don’t happen, it makes me believe it might be a memory leak issue.
How to reproduce
The issue is not really consistent to reproduce, but so far every test I did by creating a world on the 26.4 snapshots the issue happened after a while.
Start the game and create a new world.
In creative or spectator, explore new terrain for a while.
After like 20 or 30 minutes, enable the FPS and TPS graph and analyze if there’s lag spikes present.
