Brittle ice rendering can appear inconsistent when placed below regular ice and does not match it.
Steps to reproduce:
Place brittle ice directly below regular ice (it’s best to see it when it's done under a frozen river) and observe how it’s rendering is darker than the regular ice above it (observe from the ground and do not go into water), it is and appears inconsistent with the regular ice block above it (even when their textures are similar)
Expected result:
Both of the renderings match each other when the brittle ice block is placed directly below the regular ice block.
Observed result:
The brittle ice block’s rendering is inconsistent to the regular ice block’s rendering directly above it.

Hey! I’m struggling to understand what the issue is here. I placed brittle ice below regular ice under a frozen river and didn’t observe and weird rendering issues like you mentioned. Could you please clarify what you mean and exactly what the problem is. Additional screenshots and/or recordings would be appreciated. Thanks!
It’s still really unclear what the problem is here. Would MC-136598 happen to describe your issue? Are you talking about culling?
