I am certain that Mojang will consider this a feature request, but I will confirm this report and expand it to include all throwables of this type since no firm precedent for which projectiles can push buttons has yet been established. (Although, if I had to speculate, projectiles which are weighty enough to become embedded in a block or which specifically activate certain redstone components are the only ones which are intended to be able to do this.)
Thank you for your report!
