[MC-39798] Non-ASCII characters render incorrectly

The Non-ASCII characters are wrong only in packs resources.
Only the characters with accents, for example, á and ã.

Please do not mark unreleased versions (anything starting with "Future Version") as affected. You don't have access to them yet.

Can you indicate which characters aren't displaying correctly?

Same problem in French with Faithful resource pack, also affects 1.8 snapshots. Œ symbol is replaced by an arrow. Here's a similar topic closed by Grum: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-45083 The problem is it the game or TP, although Grum said that the issue only occurs with tp having a wrong ascii sheet? I'm confused.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.8.1 Prerelease 3 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
