When a minecart falls off a rail, it does not align with the direction it fell but turns slightly.
Affects minecarts travelling north or south as well as east or west. The direction that the minecart turns to might be related to the north/west rule. After some time, or reloading the chunks, the minecarts correct themselves. Video: http://youtu.be/YgBn1UyV6hQ
Kumasasa, this bug is about Minecarts going OFF the rails changing direction. (They are fine while on the tracks, but once they leave them, they angle very strangely.) I can certainly confirm this.
Kumasasa, you still don't quite get it. The minecarts turn a strange angle when off the tracks, which can cause dispenser problems. It has nothing to do with them not returning to rails.
As this bug still exists in the latest snapshots, i want to add that it is direction dependent. In East-West direction the cart doesn't turn and falls straight off a rail. In north-south orientation it turns to the left.
Confirmed for 1.9-pre1. As said previously, it only affects minecarts travelling North or South, and in both cases they turn towards West. It also affects all minecart variants. After waiting a while, or reloading the world/chunks, the minecarts correct themselves, and face the correct direction.
The issue in the MC-82647 bug report is a slightly different scenario, although similar. This report shows that the cart rolls off of the rail and turns slightly. In the MC-82647 report and also my issue (1.16.1), we remove the rail beneath (that person used a piston and I mined the rail) and the cart instantly (no actual turning viewed) changes direction (90 degrees). So I do not see how this is considered as a duplicate or that the MC-82647 report as being resolved.
Cannot reprodue. The minecart snaps to the tracks, even if the dispenser is perpendicular to the tracks.See screenshots
