What I expected to happen was...:
Normal, a flower xD
What actually happened was...:
So that was how I was seeing the new fucionalidades minecraft, when caught in a flower and her image and her disappear, and my mine is more buggy than whatnot! (PT- Portuguese version )

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go in inventory
2.pick a flower
3.and puff the bug happens

Strange. I tested your instructions in 1.7.3 and this doesn't happen.

I, too, have the same problem as described. It occures for versions 1.7+, when switching back to 1.6.4 everything works again.
I can also trigger the problem by "taking" a torch (putting it in the hand). Sometimes the blocks do not become transparent (as in the screenshots) but instead they turn black.
To me it seems a little bit like the textures are not loaded properly anymore. When I play around with the graphics settings or choose another ressource pack, sometimes the textures are back until I take a torch again.
