@a is still broken in new snapshot

@a, although said to be fixed, still does not work in the new snapshot (14w02c), at least with the give command.

Type the command /give @a stone into chat and you will see a message saying Given [Stone] * 1 to PLAYERNAME, but you will not receive a stone block.

EDIT: It seems to work fine in command blocks, but does not work when a player enters it in chat

I expect this may be intended, as players could abuse this if used directly in the chat.

@CubeTheThird

I don't think so, as nothing like that was mentioned in any changelog.

That would be seriously illogical if @a doesn't work in chat commands intentionally. You need to be an OP to use this command. If you're an op, you have the power to do much, much worse things than spawning everyone a block of stone or whatever. If this is intentional, they might as well remove ALL commands, and do away with OP's altogether since they can obviously abuse pretty much any command.

@Nicholas Chard I totally agree. I think mojang should look at commands in general, as a lot of things were broken with selectors and such in the new snapshots.

The only reason I suggest it, is because people have abused the command /tell @a, which does not have op requirements. This has not in any way been confirmed as intended.

I'm experiencing major issues with /give @a in command blocks and in the chat. They are spawning the items at random locations and not putting them in my inventory.

There is no reason for an OP command to not have the features, Cube.
