Mipmapping Strength Is Not Applied To Non-Standard Blocks

Mipmap levels seem to have been changed and/or are broken, see screenshots.

This affects the following, but not limited to:

  • Tall grass (perhaps all cross-model blocks)

  • Glass blocks (not panes)

  • All rails

  • Cake

  • Ladders

  • Redstone wire

  • Reeds

  • Repeaters and comparators

  • All doors

Tested using mipmap level two (2).

I can confirm that this is happening in 14w03b.

Regardless of which Mipmap level is used, there is no change in visual quality, it does not seem to be functioning at all. Still the same grainy/staticy textures. Not sure if it's Mipmapping, or anisotropic filtering, or both. But something is clearly not working.

Just tried snapshot 14w04a, and this bug seems to have been improved. However NOW, Anisotropic Filtering is causing some odd rendering glitches, on any setting above 2 (2 seems to be working fine, or maybe not at all, hard to tell). At setting 4 or above, dark curved lines appear at extreme angles towards the horizon, mostly easily noticeable on a grass flat map. And when set to 16, white render glitches start to appear at extreme angles near the horizon in the NW and SE directions.

Fixed with grass, however, other blocks are not fixed

Fixed in 14w07a. (Tested with glass, rails, and cake)

This is back in 1.8!

This not only affects rails, but also redstone dust and ladders.

Hey, this is still present in 1.8.1!

This can be seen on most transparent blocks, which include rails, glass, redstone dust, cake, and ladders.

Confirmed with all listed blocks. Note that glass panes are unaffected, however.
