/fill doesn't support blocks with specific dataTags (unlike /setblock)

Steps to reproduce

  • Type /fill and it will come up with the syntax

  • You will notice there will not be a '{dataTag}' at the end of the syntax

  • BEFORE YOU CLOSE THIS AS WORKS AS INTENDED AND I SHOULD SUGGEST THIS IN MCSUGGESTIONS SUBREDDIT, please consider the fact that /fill is meant to work exactly the way /setblock does only being able to fill in a large amount of blocks in a cubic area, and /setblock does support dataTags

Please provide the /fill command you attempted to issue.

is that really necessary, if it is here is an example: I want to fill a certain area with player skulls which belong to a specific player, I can't do that with /fill because there is no available data tags

fill supports NBT data.

Try

/fill ~ ~ ~ ~2 ~2 ~2 standing_sign 0 replace {Text1:Test}
