While playing a custom map a creeper explosion destroyed a large number of Monster Eggs, (silverfish blocks) but they still spawned silverfish. I recreated this in single player, creative and survival, with both creepers and TNT, in both cases silverfish were spawned when the blocks were destroyed.
According to the Minecraft wiki, breaking Monster Eggs with explosions shouldn't spawn silverfish:
"If the block is destroyed by an explosion (e.g., creepers, TNT, etc.), the Silverfish will die inside of the block,"
http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Monster_Egg
Is this a bug, or is it intended? I couldn't find any mention of it having been changed.

I know the wiki isn't the most reliable source, but I remember in previous versions explosions didn't allow silverfish spawns, and I hadn't seen this changed in any recent patch notes.
I was wondering because this makes them a lot more dangerous in custom maps.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w11b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
This is no longer a concern.
My original reason for posting this was to ask if this behavior is intentional. But it isn't something that really needs changing.
I don't know how / don't have permission to delete this post or mark it as resolved, so if someone who does know how / has permission can do so, then it won't be distracting from confirmed issues.
Thank you.
Is there a way I can stop getting emails whenever this post is updated?
It's been a while and I'm not really watching this bug anymore.
You can click "Stop watching this issue" on the top right column (where the reporter's name, assignee and votes are, above the dates).
I seem to recall this being around for quite a while, i.e. when terraforming extreme hills with TNT I still get the silverfish spawning.
And keep in mind, the Wiki is not an official source of information.
