Not a rendering error, that's just how the underside of repeaters and comparators looks like. They don't have a bottom texture. Don't place them on barrier blocks. Ladders could need a backside texture though ...

This also affects the dirt within plant pots

But if they now can go somewhere with a bottom texture, shouldn't they get one for that situation?

All I wish is for Mojang is to:
1) Make redstone render when looking at a barrier with redstone on it while looking at the under side
2) Make a bottom texture for repeaters, comparaters, and other items that have no bottom texture

zombie hunter: I totaly agree with that.

Mojang doesn't consider this a problem, though, as Barriers are given only through commands, likely why it's WAI. Placing redstone or ladders on barriers is a bit like an "unsupported action" that they don't intend to allow you to do (without these issues at least).

Fixed in version 14w10b (10a?) with the addition of "twoSided" parameter for faces!

Well, on ladders. They might also add it to redstone eventually

Happens also with Slime Blocks. – redstone wire and comparators etc, placed on top a Slime Block.

I would suggest a reopen, for slime blocks and end portal frames.
