Upon spawning in any mob with the Invulnerable:1 NBT tag, the mob will still take damage normally.
Example Command:
/summon Pig ~ ~ ~ {Invulnerable:1}
Doing this will spawn in a Pig that CAN take damage.

I think this would be a nice feature to be able to kill invulnerable mobs in creative, but not in survival. If Mojang would put this on the release note, I will be happy. I don't think this is actually a bug.
What exactly is the use of this 'feature'? If an op flagged a mob to be invulnerable, why on earth should it be vulnerable to some players? It still can be killed with /kill
I think it is a feature which was added in the last snapshots, because many players complained that you cannot get rid of invulnerable entities.
Confirmed for 14w21b in CREATIVE Mode
Confirmed for 1.9.3-pre3. This IS a bug, clearly. Invulnerable means invulnerable, not just in some cases. The /kill command removes an entity, that's the reason why you can remove items etc. with it. You can't punch an item to death.
I just stumbled upon this because I wanted to test if I wrote "Invulnerable" correctly. I wasn't able to find the issue why it didn't work until I put lava at the place where the entities get spawned and saw that they don't take damage from it. It's stupid to have to go into survival mode every time just to check if you wrote the command correctly. And if the mob is a wither or something similarly dangerous, you can barely test it at all.
Edit: Why can't I vote for "invalid" bugs? That's so stupid.
@@unknown This is working as intended. It's not a bug. It was intentionally implemented years ago. Look at this official changelog:
Players in creative mode can now damage entities even if they are flagged invulnerable
Well, how should it be handled then? There are places for feature auggestions, but none for "feature" removal suggestions.
Note: due to a recent snapshot change you can now damage invulnerable mobs when in creative. Check to see if it's doing it in survival.
