[MC-52719] Outdated Server. Pretending to be 1.7.7 / 1.7.8

When logging in to multiplayer and join a game, it says OUTDATED SERVER. PRETENDING TO BE 1.7.7. I have logged out and in, and it is still an issue.

You'll need to update both clients to Minecraft version 1.7.7

It already says that they have 1.7.7 when they logged in. Do I need to dowload minecraft again?

1.7.7 continues not to work, it needs to be updated fast... no multiplier is boring

If you log in as 1.7.4 on all machines then everything works as normal.

Me and a freind are also experiencing this error when running a local Lan game, both of us are running 1.7.8, but it says 'outdated server, pretending to be 1.7.8. Have had to switch back to 1.7.4 to play on LAN at all.
