Respawn button does not work if spawnpoint is outside of the worldborder

After falling out of the world I tried to respawn however the button did nothing.

Steps to reproduce:

1) die (by falling into the void)
2) try to respawn by clicking "respawn"
2a) also tested was the button on the "title screen" button which also said, respawn, which also failed to work

extra info:

• used the customised world type preset: Good Luck

• in creative

• used /worldborder command with params "100 60" in that order

uploading a zip of the world as unable to reproduce on any other world other than this specific one

co ords as well are: -31 58 -47

This also works for /kill command

UPDATE:
tried on a brand new world, could respawn but once the worldborder command was issued, respawn button is no longer usable
