If you place redstone on tall grass, the tall grass will not disappear and place the redstone.
Since the 12w05a Snapshot you could place blocks and replace the tall grass. Redstone does not do this.
*What I expected to happen was...: The redstone would replace the tall grass
*What actually happened was...: Redstone did not place.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a block with tall grass on it
2. Place the redstone on the tall grass.
3. Redstone will not replace the tall grass

Works as intended. Non-solid blocks are not supposed to replace tall grass.

It's an inconsistency with snow layer, which does get replaced when placing redstone dust.

Fair enough. The snow layer also gets replaced with any non-solid block.

Affects 1.6.4.

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w08a? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases., also don't torches remove grass?

Yep, still an issue in 1.7.4 and 1.8 snapshots
