Placing Redstone dust on certain other objects destroy the object

If you place redstone on the block in front of a torch, the torch will disappear and place the redstone. (see pics)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a block with a torch.
2. Place the redstone on the ground in front of the torch.
3. Redstone will replace the torch.

Skulls and Heads however are dropped when redstone is placed underneath!

This is pretty serious. I hope it doesn't get skipped prior to 1.8 final...

I think this was caused by the fix of MC-5610

Dust seems to replace any half block that has an open hitbox to the block below within the same coordinate.

Definitely caused by the fix of MC-5610

Replaces every block when placed on a Ladder (see gifs)
