Upon removing a block which has a redstone torch attached to it the redstone torch was not removed. In previous versions of the game, I have not observed this behaviour.
The redstone torches also stay active, continuing to provide a redstone current.

Torches on the side of a block will pop off as expected if there's no solid block underneath the torch. Tested with: air block, water, glowstone, stair blocks and half slabs.
