Cannot reproduce, sounds like it might be a rare client issue? Possibly derived from a keyboard issue or a software issue in which your computer is telling the game it's down when it's not.
Doesn't seem to be a game issue. (I'm on Mac as well, so I can assume it's not Mac)
I used to have that problem on my old Windows XP computer. It's just bad lag issues, and there is no problem with the game, OS, or Java version.
You're able to do this in almost any game, it's not just a problem with Minecraft. For example, you can replicate this by disconnecting the keyboard while pressing a button, and the game will think the button is still being pressed. Or pressing a key that the game doesn't recognize on your keyboard (such as a volume up button) while holding another key will do this aswell.
