What I expected to happen was...:
I was testing the new performance improvements, I changed my render distance to 20 chunks
What actually happened was...:
Screen tearing occured and the graphics became extremely glitchy.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Downloaded the new 14w30c jar in the launcher and started the game
2. changed render distance to 20 chunks in single player in an old world
3. Screen goes extremely glitchy, unplayable.

can confirm, changed from 9 to 16 chunk render distance and experienced what is shown in youtube video.
changing back to original render distance removes glitchiness

These were weird 'things' rotating quickly while this glitch was happening.

I had this too.
I changed my render distance from 4 to 8, and basically the same thing started happening.
It was a little bit different for me though, I had some weird rotating 'things' that you can see in the images that I'm attaching.
This happened in 14w32b on a world that was from 14w31a.

Same here. Changed from 16 to 24 and the same happened.
Using 1.8pre1 on Windows 8.1 and Java 8.

Same problem here
