What I expected to happen was...:
The game should have opened up normally.
What actually happened was...:
The game showed the white Mojang screen, then froze my computer and the screen was no longer visible.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Minecraft 14w31a on Ubuntu 14.04

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.
