OpenGL: RADEON X300/X550 Series x86/SSE2 GL version 2.0.5695 WinXP Release, ATI Technologies Inc.
Download and install the latest graphics card driver for your system: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy1&os=Windows%20XP%20-%20Professional/Home&RenderOnServer=true
This might or might not help, since your graphics card and OS are quite old (Read: Ancient).
This is a technical support issue; this site is for bug reports only. For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.
Forgive me but the reply you offered your customer was a bit rude. If Minecraft IS NOT for, what you have decided to be, ancient machines, then clearly say so and give her money back. Otherwise, please explain to me why Minecraft downloads its own javaw.exe in version 8, when I have javaw.exe and javavm load on my ancient computer in version 7.
Can you fix the bug? Do you have an alternate version that doesn't promise to be everything to everyone? Or do you have a workaround? BTW. The following are MINECRAFT ERROR MESSAGES, such as they are. If you choose to write 1970's style nonsense error messages customers will not understand them. Put a bit more effort in being specific. It will help all of us.
Failed to load shader: minecraft:shaders/post/entity_outline.json
ox: Invalid shaders/program/sobel.vsh: Couldn't compile vertex program: ERROR: 0:1: '' : Version number not supported by GL2
ERROR: 1 compilation errors. No code generated.
I'm sorry if that sounded rude, wasn't intended.
But, neither the computer of the OP nor your computer does meet the minimum system requirements :
Minimum Requirements:
GPU (Discrete): Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2400 with OpenGL 3.1
A Radeon X300/X550 is way older (~2004) than the mimum requiredd Radeon 2400 and supports OpenGL 2.0 at max.
Even worse, if the graphics card driver would report it's capabilites correctly, you would get a decent human readable error message, but the drivers are simply broken.
Please contact the help chat of the Mojang Support Center.
I think you are misunderstanding my bug report.
1. If Mojang does not have support for Windows XP computers please state that plainly. I wouldn't have bought two copies.
2. You are not looking at the entire message. Note that your new version 1.8 loads javaw.exe that is Version 8. Note, Version 8. Windows XP will not support Java Version 8. See issue Number 1.
3. You seem to focus on monitors, graphics, and graphics processors, but you got mine wrong. Mine is an ATI Technologies Mobility Radeon 9700 AGP (0x4E50). I cannot find it on your approved list or unapproved list.
4. What of the error thrown: "Failed to load shader" and it goes on to list: entity_outline.json entity_outline.json is not on my computer. The line before tells us: "Invalid . . . sober.vsh"
5. Finally, I've gone to version 1.7.10 which is working fine on a virtually identical computer.
I've spent enough time in your country getting accustomed to people telling me what they can't do. How about a positive reflection and tell me what you can do?
It's because you are "watching" the report. If you'd like to stop the emails, you can click the "Stop watching this issue" button in the upper right-hand corner of the report.
Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP in 2004, if what they do is called support. If Oracle feels they cannot handle the various releases of Java they shouldn't have played politics to control the source.
Now then, if Minecraft cannot support Windows, Please, Please, Please put that on your website, especially the purchase window. Don't let me navigate to a window and download for all Windows products, ok?
Can you provide a copy of the properly compiled shader? If no can I get a refund for the three copies of Minecraft that I have since you don't want my business any more?
Again: It's not Java or XP causing this issue, it's your graphics card / graphics card driver.
And again: Please contact the help chat of the Mojang Support Center.
1. You are reading the wrong post. If you want to comment on my post read
from my post. The subject line on your email is the wrong post. Do you
understand wrong post?
2. Your software is throwing errors, but it is my graphics card driver,
but you don't know what graphics card driver I am using. Why is the file
your compiler needs missing from your installation package?
3. If your software does not run on Windows XP say that plainly. Do not
make your problem my problem.

This is looking like a graphics driver issue.
Start 1.7.10 and please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (
[minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]
) here.
