Any item put in an item frame, then removed shows a fly out animation but does not drop or appear in inventory, it vanishes. I had this happen with a clock, a map, and a carrot.

There is an animation of the item dropping to the floor, which you don't get when tiledrops is off. but the item disappears.
I'm not able to reproduced this in singleplayer, it happens on a multiplayer world, where I'm not op.

other itemframes in the same world seem to work. Only the one specific itemframe is haunted but it is consistent on that one. I can do it over and over and lose the item every time.

What is the seed and coordinate of the world?

I own the server in question and don't publish my seed. Having looked into it, it seems to be that items are thrown far and wide and so seems to be a duplicate of MC-3706.

Started seeing this issue following latest build 1.8. Lost a diamond sword and an iron sword. Was able to duplicate with other items such as rotten flesh, etc.

the issue was correctly closed as duplicate - the items don't vanish from the world, they were turning up in an empty space above the ceiling I hadn't know was there.
Do you have doTileDrops on false? It works otherwise.
