Block and Entity lag in SMP

Both of my friends tried hosting a server, all of us hosting with 2 megabits/s up speed.
Here's a video to explain everything.

http://youtu.be/_hy12LhhUks - First video of 1.8
http://youtu.be/87tJJsjMvEU - Second video of 1.8

You could see him jittering and falling behind when I punch him in 2nd video. Block lag was at the start, and chunk loading is icky.

We later decided to jump into 1.7.10 to test out if the lag persists.
Here's another video. (Sorry about the weird static, I broke it when trying to stitch the videos together.)

If you're not a fan of 4 minute videos, basically, 1.7.10 doesn't have any of the problems that SMP 1.8-pre1/2 have.

Sorry if this is a duplicate, I tried searching for block lag and entity lag in SMP but to no avail.

(At the time of this post, those videos might not have aired yet)

How to recreate:
Set up a server with 1.8 prereleases, load up a normal world, join with two or three of your friends and attempt loading new chunks or entering the nether, or simply even just trying to do normal survival. Lag should start happening.

What's the specs on the servers? If it's a weak server it might be related to this issue, MC-69244
Also make sure you have the view distance server setting at the same value in 1.7.10 and 1.8-pre.

Thanks for your reply. The servers are run on beefy computers, my server being run on an i5-4670, the linux on an i7.

View distances are the same, being on 8, the normal view distance.

Can you measure the network output/input between the versions?
Maybe something changed in the network protocol/traffic.

I'm unable to try it again right now, but when we played I did measure the data stream, and it usually went into ~60 kilobytes/s when spawning in for the first time, and then idle around 5-20 while we were just playing around in both versions. I did find a setting in server.properties that said "network-compression-threshold=128" I changed it to 128 from 256 mid way through playing around, didn't seem to do much.

Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w46a or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.
