When trying to connect to a LAN world on a router not connected to the internet, it will say that authentication servers are down.

How is that Intended!?
[media]? You shouldn't have to have internet for lan!!! And I tried setting up a server!!! IT DOESN"T WORK ON MY PC!!!!!
Then give me a detailed explanation on how to set one up...cause whenever I try to use the minecraft server software, it always says I'm missing a file or there is a java exception, or cannot find the jar file or some other crap!
One question, why is the effected version(s) say 1.8.1 Pre2, even though the fix say 1.8.1 Pre2? Doesn't make sense.
If you are wondering why I said this, take a careful look.
Still exists in 1.8.7. Due to a DDOS attack, the authentication servers are currently down, and this is preventing me from joining a LAN game on my home network. Why is an Internet connection necessary at all for a LAN game?
Still exists in 1.8.8.
I really don't understand why we need to authenticate online for every LAN game. We can play offline a single-player game, and it's possible to host an offline dedicated server, so why on earth is it not possible to do the same with the non-dedicated server??
Could you please try to make this work? Or at least explain the reason why this is not being considered?
Thank you.
Intended.
Set up a dedicated server with
online-mode=false
in the server.properties.
