It's supposed to happen?
I think it isn't supposed to happen because slime blocks are transparent blocks like: Piston, Glowstone, etc...
If it isn't a bug, I'm sorry for have report it.

Intended, since like mob spawners, slime blocks are only visually transparent (you can still suffocate in them).
