I am exploring a world created on 1.8 pre2 and am now using 1.8 pre 3.
For my world type I selected large biomes.
Every time I come across some rabbits while exploring the terrain, there is always 1 adult rabbit and 2 baby rabbits. The rabbits are of the different skin types so that is normal.
But 1 adult rabbit and 2 baby rabbits is this normal?

I guess this is a case of not reading the updated wiki.
I visited http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Bunny
and saw that the expected behavior is 1 adult and 2 babies.
Thank you very much.
Sorry I didn't check the wiki before posting my comment about 45 minutes ago.
Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w46a or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I started up a new world in 16w46a and flew around until I found some bunnies.

approximate coordinates

I say approximate coordinates because the bunnies now run away if I get close to them.
I encountered an adult white bunny and two baby white bunnies.
According to the wiki that is available at the time of this post players should expect that they will get 1 adult bunny and two baby bunnies.

I posted this bug before it was clear that this is intended functionality. My apologies.
I don't want to tell mojang what the intended functionality is, but from what I understand from reading the wiki and the experience I had on 15w46a, I would say that rabbit spawning in consistent groups is intended.
I went back through the development versions and recreated the same world on all the development versions that are still available since rabbits were introduced.
I teleported to the first coordinates in the list to observe how the game spawned in rabbits. Here are the results:
WorldType: Large Biomes
Seed: 305442117
Observed rabbits at location: X:2000 Y:68 Z:339
14w27b - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w28b - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w29b - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w30c - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w31a - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w32d - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w33c - minecraft spawns 5 adult rabbits of different skins
14w34d - minecraft spawns 1 adult rabbit and 2 baby rabbits of the same skin
1.8pre3 - minecraft spawns 1 adult rabbit and 2 baby rabbits of the same skin
I visited the wiki page for rabbits (http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Rabbit) but it did not provide any hints about how the group spawn behavior is intended to work.
All I am really wondering is if the group spawn behavior of 1 adult rabbit and 2 baby rabbits is intended or not. I guess I expected something more random.
