Had recently gone a lot of chunks away to find rabbits and brought some back, checked on ocelots and they were fine, updated to 1.8 and they were gone, unsure about at which moment did it happen after update.

How could you search for rabbits and then update to 1.8 ?

Might be a duplicate of MC-23320.
Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w46a or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I think thats the bug that was in the earlier snapshots, where mobs that were tame couldn't be brought with you again, but thats probably happened again.
