Control-middle-clicking item frames doesn't work as it should

I was building in creative mode and wanted to grab a copy of a renamed item I had put in an item frame. I control-middle-clicked and I got the item, but it wasn't renamed.

What I expected to happen was...:
To get either the renamed item or the item frame with NBT
What actually happened was...:
I got the item, but it wasn't renamed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place an item frame.
2. Rename an item in an anvil
3. Place the item in the item frame, then remove the item from your inventory.
4. Control-middle-click on the item frame.
